David J. Lawrence, D.P.M.
Dr. Lawrence hails from New Jersey but calls Chicago his home. His undergraduate degrees were in Psychology and Sociology, but after a short stint as a teacher, he was called to enter the field of Medicine. He graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1974. His post-graduate training was with Dr. Bill Edwards of Reno, Nevada. He practiced in Las Vegas for one year before moving to Chicago.
Today, Dr. Lawrence, besides being active in private practice, is a Professional Life and Executive coach. He has spent most of his career being active in civic and community involvement.
Over the years, Dr. Lawrence has authored a “Feet Beat” newspaper column and has been a public speaker on Proper Foot Health, “Nutrition for Life” and Children’s Foot Care. He has also been a speaker for the National Committee For The Prevention of Child Abuse.
Dr. Lawrence is a past local chairman for the American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association. He has been a board member of numerous Chambers of Commerce, Team Physician for the Plainfield Hockey team and Safety Director for the American Youth Soccer Organization. He was a founding member of the Plainfield Kiwanis Club and was the student advisor for the Kiwanis Key Club.
On the lighter side, Dr. Lawrence has twice served as assistant Ring Master for the Kelly-Miller Circus and has been a performer in the Plainfield Library Murder Mystery series. In 1990, Dr. Lawrence was recognized for his assistance following the Plainfield Tornado.
Dr. Lawrence has a strong commitment to preventative foot care, especially when it involves children. He is committed to listening to and understanding the thoughts, fears and concerns of all of his patients.
